Register for British Council Armenia’s professional development conference for English language teachers – our Teaching for Success Conference 2025!

About the conference

The conference is taking place over two full days – on 1 and 2 March 2025 – face-to-face in Yerevan in partnership with the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MoESCS), the National Centre for Education Development and Innovation, and Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University.

The overarching theme of the conference is Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Improved skills for improved teaching.

Attending the conference will provide teachers with the opportunity to explore current trends and practices in English language teaching through the lens of Armenia’s new CPD framework and its professional practices, while offering teachers a platform to connect with their peers and share experiences with one another through talks and workshops.

Conference dates and venue

  • Day 1: Saturday 1 March 2025, 10.00–17.00
  • Day 2: Sunday 2 March 2025, 10.00–17.00
  • Venue: Ani Plaza Hotel (accessible for wheelchair users)

Conference format

The conference will host a variety of sessions including:

Plenary talks by guest speakers

Invited guest speakers from the MoESCS and the UK English Language Teaching (ELT) sector will share their insights, expertise and the latest thinking in the ELT sphere.

Practical talks by participants

As part of the conference, participants will have the opportunity to deliver concurrent sessions on a combination of professional practices from the new CPD Framework for English language teachers. Each talk or workshop will relate specifically to an aspect, or aspects, of the professional practices and promote strategies for ongoing professional development in those areas.

Poster presentation

Selected teachers will share teaching ideas, research, projects and/or strategies visually and interactively. The presentations involve a physical or digital display where educators present their work concisely and effectively, facilitating discussions with attendees.

Panel discussion

At the end of day 1, invited educators and leaders from RA MoESCS, as well as educational institutions will take part in a panel discussion. It is expected that the discussions will highlight a number of key issues and processes in teacher development in Armenia and lead to action points/suggestions for the future.

ELT Voice

At the end of Day 2, selected teachers will be given a stage to voice their success stories in teaching and educating learners in TED-format short speeches. This activity aims to inspire teachers and allow them to showcase their best practices and learning with their peers.
