The cooperation between Artur Ghukasyan, president of HighFest International Performing Arts Festival and the British Council is much older than the British Council in Armenia. He received his first grant from the UK office back in 1999 when the British Council was not yet operating in Armenia.
“I cannot call the British Council a partner, we are more than partners. We are friends,” says Arthur Ghukasyan.
With the support of the British Council performances from the United Kingdom are always presented in the HighFest International Performing Arts Festival.
However, the British Council’s impact on Artur’s life is not limited to that.
According to him, when he was studying in the UK back in 1998, the British Council was involved in that particular educational programme, and it was this meeting that predetermined his professional path as the president of HighFest International Performing Arts Festival and Chair of the Arts Administration and Cultural Policy Department of Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography.
